LASER FAQ'S
Radiofrequency Microneedling (“RFMN”) is a much more effective treatment if you want to target skin tightening, wrinkles, saggy skin, or deeper scars because along with the needles, heat is provided. Regular microneedling is better for targeting melasma, pore size, or superficial acne scars.
You can get Radiofrequency Microneedling (“RFMN”) just about anywhere on the body. The most common areas are the face, neck, decollette, and on any surgery scars.
It is most commonly used on the face. For the right candidate you can also have the neck and decollete treated as well if the provider is experienced. It should be used with caution on the body and only by an experienced provider.
It used to be! The Carbon Dioxide (“CO2”) Lasers made nowadays are able to be turned way down for a light laser peel, or turned way up for an aggressive treatment. Not all devices can do this so check with your prodiver first to make sure their device has this capability (ours does).
Thanks to our special numbing cream you should not feel much of anything during your treatment other than some pressure, warmth, and tingling. If you have a low pain tolerance, we can also provide additional numbing options (please ask your provider for this during your appointment).
Typically, there is little downtime after the treatment. Your skin will be very red right directly after the treatment, which will subside significantly within a few hours. Your face will be pink or red and feel warm, like a sunburn, which goes away within a few days. Some people have peeling or dry skin flake off around day 3-5. Starting the day after your treatment you can cover your skin with tinted mineral sunscreen and makeup if desired.
Patients typically need 3-4 treatments spaced about 4-8 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. Most patients report seeing improvement after the second treatment, but optimal results appear 3-6 months after the last treatment. For stretch marks or acne scars, additional treatments might be required.

BEFORE —
– Do not wear makeup to your appointment.
– If you bruise easily, pre-treat with Arnica supplements orally 3 times a day for 3 days before your procedure, and the morning of. Sold at the office or see specific product recommendations below.
– To decrease downtime and increase results, prep your skin with Epicutis Lipid Serum for 2 weeks leading up to your procedure (available in office). To really get your skin hydrated, also use the Epicutis Hyvia Cream for the 2 weeks leading up to your procedure.
– Drink a lot of water the day of your treatment, or get our Thirsty Drip IV while numbing (IVs are 50% off when completed while numbing for your laser treatment).
– No sun-tanning or self-tanners 2-4 weeks prior to treatment (Includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, sun exposure, etc.)
– Avoid skin irritants a few days before and for 1-2 weeks after treatment. Examples include: tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, etc…
– **If you have a history of cold sores we will provide you with medication to pre-treat as well; please inquire at your consult.**
AFTER — Only use the products we recommend. Use of ANYTHING else could result in serious damage to your skin.
– Do not apply makeup until the day after your appointment.
– Wash and pat dry the skin gently twice day until any dry skin or crusting naturally exfoliates/sloughs off. See specific product recommendations below.
– Apply a mild/fragrance free moisturizing cream and pharmaceutical grade healing serum to the treatment area at least twice a day for 2 weeks or until the area is fully healed. See specific product recommendations below.
– Apply MINERAL sunscreen every morning, and reapply every 1-2 hours when leaving the house to prevent UV-induced pigmentation. To limit risks, you should avoid vigorous exercise, sauna, or outdoor activities for 1-2 weeks after your procedure. See specific product recommendations below.
– Avoid skin irritants a few days before and for 1-2 weeks after treatment. Examples include: tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, etc…
– Help keep your skin cool and moisturized by spraying with cold water spray during the healing process. See specific product recommendations below.
